Deposit packaging
A deposit is an additional amount paid for the packaging of a packaged product when purchasing it, and refunded when the packaging is returned. This encourages the reuse of packaging and creates a closed loop. In the Netherlands, examples include deposits on crates, glass bottles, plastic bottles, and cans, as well as on pallets. The deposit system for plastic bottles and cans in the Netherlands is managed by Statiegeld Nederland.
