Maleic Anhydride
Maleic Anhydride is a chemical compound that is often used as a compatibilizer in polymer blends. It acts as a bridge between two incompatible polymers and improves their miscibility and interfacial adhesion. This is achieved because it can react with both polymers, forming a copolymer that can connect the two otherwise separate phases.
It is often used to combine PA (polyamide) in polyolefin films (PE and/or PP).
