Target material
The target material is the material that ultimately needs to be recycled into a new raw material. In most cases, this is the most prevalent material in the disposal unit, often the material of the main component.
Exception: if a subcomponent (such as a heavy steel cap) is heavier than the main component, then the subcomponent constitutes the target material. If a subcomponent is made of exactly the same material as the main component (e.g. a paper label on a cardboard box or a PE cap on a PE bottle), it is counted as part of the target material. Properties such as color, additives, and printing of these subcomponents must be taken into account in the assessment of the recycle check.
