Primary production packaging [PPWR definition]

This refers to packaging for products straight from primary production (such as agriculture, animal husbandry, fishing or hunting) before any further processing or preparation (e.g., before slaughtering). Primary production includes, among other things, the cultivation and harvesting of crops, the milking of animals, the breeding of farm animals, fishing, hunting, and the gathering of wild products.

Examples: Packaging for substrate, hay bales, but also other packaging used by the agricultural industry, up to and including harvesting and prior to slaughter.
