Compostable packaging [PPWR definition]
Packaging that biodegrades or undergoes biological decomposition under industrially controlled conditions, including anaerobic digestion (but not necessarily home-compostable), if necessary in combination with physical treatment, and that ultimately converts into carbon dioxide or, in the absence of oxygen, methane, as well as mineral salts, biomass and water, without hindering or jeopardising separate collection or the composting and anaerobic digestion processes.
