Tertiary packaging

Definition of Tertiary Packaging (before 12 August 2026)

Packaging designed to facilitate the loading and transport of a number of sales units or collective packagings in order to prevent physical damage during loading or transport. Road, rail, ship, and air containers are not considered tertiary packaging.

Tertiary packaging, such as stretch wrap and possibly other transport packaging materials, for example corner profiles, belongs to the packaging that must be included in the packaging administration. This is often relevant for products that are delivered on a pallet.
